California” 4 Dead, 10 Injured in Shooting at Child’s Birthday Party in California
A child’s birthday celebration in northern California turned into a scene of tragedy on Saturday evening after a mass shooting left four people dead and at least ten others injured.

The attack took place at a restaurant in Stockton shortly before 18:00 local time, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office. Police say both adults and children are among the victims. The conditions of the injured have not yet been released.
Suspect still at large as police investigate targeted attack
Authorities confirmed that the gunman has not been caught. Early indications suggest the shooting may have been a targeted attack, although investigators are still examining all possible motives.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Heather Brent described the incident as “unfathomable”. She said officers are working around the clock to understand what unfolded.
“This is a very active and ongoing investigation and information remains limited,” she said. “We are appealing to anyone with information, video footage, or who may have witnessed any part of the incident to come forward.”

City leaders express shock and anger
Stockton’s Mayor, Christina Fugazi, condemned the violence and expressed sympathy for the families affected.

“This is unacceptable,” she said. “Families should be together instead of at the hospital, standing next to their loved ones and praying that they survive.”
California’s gun laws under scrutiny once again
California has some of the strictest gun regulations in the United States, including background checks, waiting periods and limits on certain firearms. Those laws have faced repeated legal challenges in recent years.
In 2021, a federal judge overturned the state’s long-standing ban on assault weapons, including AR-15 style rifles. In 2022, the US Supreme Court issued a ruling expanding gun rights by striking down restrictions on carrying firearms in public in New York, a decision that threatened similar regulations in California.
As the investigation continues in Stockton, the shooting is likely to renew debate over the state’s gun laws and the limits of what they can prevent.
