The 20 year old son of Sir David Beckham and Lady Victoria is understood to have committed his latest offence on 2 September. After receiving the ticket, he posted on Instagram that he had “just got done for doing 24 in a 20”.

“Games gone. Myself I feel very safe,” he wrote, referencing the 2025 Wes Anderson film The Phoenician Scheme.

Under UK rules, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency automatically revokes a licence if a driver accumulates six or more penalty points within two years of passing their test.

A source close to the family told the Mail on Sunday: “Cruz is gutted about it. It was a couple of speeding tickets which are so easy to come by these days with 20mph zones. It is infuriating, but he seems to have accepted it and taken it on the chin.”

Rising number of speeding fines in 20mph zones

Latest figures show that almost 500,000 speeding tickets were issued to drivers breaking limits in 20mph zones in 2024. That represents an increase of nearly two thirds compared to the previous year.

Cruz will now be required to reapply for a provisional licence and retake both the theory test and practical driving test before he is legally allowed to drive again.

His parents celebrated publicly on Instagram when he passed his test in September 2023.

Road issues run in the family

Sir David Beckham has also faced driving penalties in the past. In January 2018 he was caught driving a loaned Bentley at 59mph in a 40mph zone.

His lawyer, Nick Freeman, known as Mr Loophole, helped him avoid prosecution at the time by arguing that the speeding notice arrived one day late.

However, the former Manchester United star received a six month driving ban in May 2019 after being photographed using his mobile phone behind the wheel. A member of the public took the picture as Beckham sat in “slowly moving” traffic in central London.
