Emirates restores triple daily Airbus A380 service to London Gatwick
Emirates has confirmed a significant adjustment to its long term schedule, restoring three daily Airbus A380 flights to London Gatwick Airport during the winter 2026 to 2027 season. The move underscores the airline’s confidence in sustained demand at Europe’s tenth busiest airport and marks another round of fine tuning in its forward planning.

The decision reverses earlier plans that would have reduced Gatwick to a single daily A380 service next winter. While Emirates currently operates three daily superjumbo flights on the route, previous schedules showed that from early 2026 the A380 presence would drop as the airline introduced additional frequencies using the A350 900. That strategy has now been revised.
From October 25, when winter schedules take effect, Emirates will once again operate three daily A380 departures between Dubai and Gatwick, a pattern it intends to maintain throughout the winter 2026 to 2027 season.
Capacity surge at Gatwick
Schedule data indicates that two of the three daily A380 services will use the airline’s high density two class configuration, offering 615 seats and no first class cabin. The third daily flight will continue to feature the 517 seat A380 equipped with first class.
In November 2026 alone, Emirates is expected to offer 123,540 round trip seats on the Dubai to Gatwick route. That represents an 18 percent increase compared with November 2025 and would mark the highest monthly capacity the airline has ever deployed on the route. The expansion further cements Gatwick as Emirates’ second largest European market, behind only London Heathrow Airport.

The adjustment also comes amid growing competition, including the launch of double daily Air Arabia flights from Sharjah to Gatwick, and reflects strong winter demand for travel between the UK and the Gulf.
Daily schedule highlights for winter 2026
During November 2026, Emirates plans to operate the following daily services between Dubai and Gatwick, subject to further changes:
- Early morning and mid afternoon departures using 615 seat Airbus A380 aircraft, replacing Boeing 777 300ER services
- A morning departure operated by a 517 seat A380 with first class
- One daily rotation operated by the Airbus A350 900, supplementing the A380 schedule

The UK as Emirates’ A380 stronghold
Looking across the network, November 2026 schedules show Emirates planning up to 14 daily A380 departures to the UK, more than any other country in its global system. Australia and the United States follow with seven daily superjumbo flights each.

The Dubai to Heathrow route remains the world’s busiest A380 service, with six daily flights, all operated by four class aircraft offering first class and premium economy. Gatwick and Manchester will each see three daily A380 services, while Birmingham and Glasgow will continue to receive daily superjumbo flights.
Global A380 deployment
By next winter, Emirates expects to operate the Airbus A380 to 52 destinations worldwide. Ten routes are scheduled to see three or more daily A380 flights. Heathrow leads with six daily services, followed by Bangkok with four. A further eight airports, including Gatwick, Manchester, Paris Charles de Gaulle, New York JFK, Singapore, Sydney, Cairo, and Jeddah, are slated for triple daily A380 operations.
While schedules remain subject to change, the restoration of three daily A380 flights to Gatwick highlights Emirates’ ongoing commitment to the UK market and its belief in the continued appeal of high capacity, long haul travel through London’s second airport.
