Nationwide Shakes Up UK High Street: Major Service Overhaul Rollout Begins Across All 605 Branches
Nationwide has issued an update to its more than sixteen million members, confirming that all of the building society’s UK branches will remain open for the long term. Emails were sent to members on Friday, 21 November, outlining the decision and reaffirming Nationwide’s commitment to face to face banking.
Part of the message told customers, “The days may be getting colder, but you will always find a warm welcome at our branches, which are now staying put on the high street for even longer.”
The building society said one reason it was named Which Banking Brand of the Year 2025 is its continued pledge to keep physical branches open at a time when many banks are reducing their high street presence.
Nationwide confirmed that all 605 branches will stay open until at least the start of 2030, aside from circumstances beyond its control. This means members will continue to have access to face to face banking services across the UK.
The message added, “Whether it is on the high street, in our app or over the phone, you can choose how you would like to bank with us.”
