NBA roundup: Wembanyama 27 & 14 delivers double double as Schroder sinks overtime winner

The San Antonio Spurs NBA team extended their winning streak to six games with a 124–113 road victory over the Washington Wizards at Capital One Arena in the 2025, 26 NBA regular season.

Jeremy Sochan did not feature for San Antonio, now coached by Mitch Johnson. Washington were without French prospects Alex Sarr, sidelined for right adductor injury management, and Bilal Coulibaly, who missed out with a left ankle sprain. Serbian forward Tristan Vukcevic started for the Wizards and impressed with 18 points, nine rebounds and three blocks in 27 minutes.

NBA Schroder stuns Rockets in overtime thriller

At Golden 1 Center, Dennis Schroder hit a dramatic corner three pointer with 2.2 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Sacramento Kings to a 125–124 win over the Houston Rockets.

Schroder finished with a superb all round performance off the bench, recording 24 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds. The Kings rallied after trailing by five in the final two minutes of regulation to snap a five game losing streak.

DeMar DeRozan led Sacramento with 27 points and nine assists, while Russell Westbrook added 21 points and 13 rebounds. Keegan Murray scored 26 points, and French big man Maxime Raynaud posted a 12 point, 14 rebound double double before fouling out early in overtime.

Houston had chances to close it out. Jabari Smith Jr made two of three free throws to give the Rockets a two point lead with eight seconds left, but DeRozan drove into the lane and kicked the ball out to Schroder, who calmly knocked down the game winner.

For the Rockets, Alperen Sengun scored a game high 28 points, while Kevin Durant added 24 points and 10 rebounds but missed a jumper at the overtime buzzer. Clint Capela chipped in two points off the bench.

Nets overpower Raptors in defensive battle

The Brooklyn Nets claimed a 96–81 win over the Toronto Raptors at Barclays Center in a matchup between two European coaches.

Russian guard Egor Demin scored 16 points for the Nets, coached by Spaniard Jordi Fernandez. French reserve Nolan Traore added eight points. Israeli forward Danny Wolf went scoreless in nearly 19 minutes, while Ben Saraf was assigned to the G League affiliate Long Island Nets.

Toronto, led by Serbian coach Darko Rajakovic, saw Jakob Poeltl return from lower back injury management. The Austrian center lasted just over six minutes, scoring two points before exiting with back stiffness. Georgian forward Sandro Mamukelashvili scored four points off the bench.

Brunson erupts at Madison Square Garden

At Madison Square Garden, Jalen Brunson poured in 47 points to lead the New York Knicks to a 132–125 win over the Miami Heat.

British forward OG Anunoby added 18 points for New York. French reserve Mohamed Diawara scored three points, while Tosan Evbuomwan, Ariel Hukporti, Guerschon Yabusele and Pacome Dadiet did not play.

Miami received bench contributions from Italian Simone Fontecchio, who scored seven points, and Lithuanian Kasparas Jakucionis, who added two. The Heat were without Nikola Jovic due to a right elbow contusion and Pelle Larsson because of a left ankle sprain. Vladislav Goldin remained unused.

Kings rally late to force overtime

Sacramento forced overtime after a strong late push in the fourth quarter. After Durant’s free throws gave Houston a 112–107 lead with just over two minutes remaining, DeRozan scored on a dunk and Westbrook drained a corner three to tie the game.

Overtime featured multiple lead changes. Westbrook missed a potential go ahead three with 30 seconds left, before Smith’s free throws briefly put Houston back in front. Schroder’s late heroics ensured the Kings had the final say.

Elsewhere around the league, San Antonio’s steady climb continued, Brooklyn tightened its defensive grip, and New York relied on a superstar scoring display. The night belonged to Wembanyama’s efficiency and Schroder’s ice cold finish.
